John is the Founder and Managing Director of SeaPoint Insights, an independent research and analysis firm specialising in the Banking & Specialty Finance sector. John is recognised as one of the foremost experts in the UK and Irish banking and financial services space.
He is also the author of Financials Unshackled, a newsletter offering independent perspectives on critical developments and themes in the Financials domain. John provides expert Financials-focused strategic support to the Lauder Teacher leadership team and its client base.
Prior to founding SeaPoint Insights, John was an institutional equity and credit analyst at Goodbody, specialising in UK and Irish banks research. He achieved exceptional recognition amongst institutional equity clients and regularly presented to bank boards, executive committees, and at conferences.
John is a qualified Chartered Accountant (FCA) with extensive senior-level experience across Capital Markets (2015–24), Government (2012–15), PLC Group Strategy (2011–12), and Corporate Finance (2003–11). He holds degrees from University College Cork (BSc) and the London School of Economics (MSc), and he was recently awarded a Certificate in FinTech from Harvard University.
